Recipe: Creole Bread Pudding with Irish Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound light, airy French bread, cut into 1 1/2-inch-thick slices
  • 1 cup dark raisins
  • 2 dozen large eggs
  • 1 1/2 quarts heavy cream
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, chopped
  • For whiskey sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 7 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup Irish whiskey
