These are mildly sweet rolls crackling with cinnamon sugar and perfect for a Christmas Eve dinner spread. I would actually go so far as to serve them on the dinner table rather than the dessert table! Recipe is from a 1955 cookbook.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup warm water (about 100 degrees)
1/3 cup milk
1 (1/4th oz) package dry active yeast
1/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp salt
zest of 1 lemon
2 heaping cups flour
additional softened butter for rolling buns (I just wanted to type “rolling buns”)
1/2 cup sugar + 1.5 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup powdered sugar + 2 tsp milk for glaze
